![]() Wish I could help with the Europe part of your equation but I’m in California. The drill guide itself is also easy to disassemble completely and the aluminum base has sets of holes for the vice as well as bench mounting holes for a total of 8, great for attaching it to things and things to it - I often set my guide up with a t-track rig when things get too weird for the drill press…and things get weird in my world often. ![]() It disassembles easily as well so you have plenty of room to modify and/or repurpose it (it breaks all the way down to two aluminum faces and the screw mechanisms, you can go bonkers on those aluminum jaws for example). I also have the self centering vice for it and, while it’s a bit pricey, it’s worthwhile if you work with a lot of small parts. A perfect world would also provide some way of adding downward force in really tough material, you can’t push down on the drill you have to push down on the crosspiece of the drill guide, but that’s more a limit of the medium that I suspect all portable guides suffer from. A minor gripe is the lack of return spring I use it A LOT and sometimes i really want some sort of return spring on it, but that’s easily solved if I ever want to add one. It does have limits and my only real complaint is that, believe it or not, that base can deflect just enough to cause the rails to bind if you clamp too hard on a surface that’s not flat…but that’s really it. The only real maintenance it’s needed is a drip or two of machine oil on the rails every so often, the rails are still true and it slides perfectly. It’s done more than it should more times than it should have, and it’s still in almost perfect shape. I have one - have used it for maybe 2 years, extensively it’s worth it. Where can I get the damn thing in Europe? I could import it, but with the import duty I may as well buy FAMAG.Is the Rockler Mobile Drill Guide a worthwhile investment?. ![]() And as far as I am aware - according to Youtube - it has a very good build quality. It seems like the Rockler tool would sit nicely in the 100-200€ gap, but with thw quality, and if I'm honest also the aesthetic I am after. The is one available from Dictum - a tool retailer in Germany - but I have seen no reviews and it appears to be of similar provenance as the cheaper tools. Which i have tested personally.) Or unbelievably expensive e.g. Either they are cheap, and of just okay quality (Wolfcraft, KWB etc. There are many domestically available here in Germany, but there are none really that sit in the quality / price gap that I am looking for. I am an aspiring woodworker and am looking to add a high quality, but still reasonably priced mobile drill guide to my arsenal. No Amazon affiliate links (they'll be removed by the Automod).
